This is a standard div-block

Hover here, please! (and see your IE6-window shrink). Your window will shrink little by little with each time you hover over this text.

This page consists of a "position: fixed" block (purple background) and a standard block without any explicit positioning (light-brown background)
IE6 had to be tricked into displaying the fixed block as *fixed* by using the standard hacks that float around the web (html and body width:100%, overflow hidden and auto, "absolute" treated as "fixed", no absolute possible after that... and so on...)

check http://www.stunicholls.myby.co.uk/layouts/fixed.html

Now just hover over the text above and see what happens for yourself!
